I am 19 Weeks Old!!

Saturday we tried Kaleb on Rice Cereal. As you can see from the pictures, he really enjoyed it. He was wiggling his feet and hands while making "mmm...mmmm....mmmm" sounds. He did get upset when the food wasn't coming fast enough! He has 1 tbl. of cereal for dinner. Next week we will probably start introducing veggies!!


Kaleb has been sleeping longer at night, averaging 8-9 before waking up to eat.

He enjoys his new toys from Nana and Grammy. Jakob enjoys making Kaleb laugh...and he does a lot of it. Kaleb loves to watch Daddy and smiles. He likes to sit in the "big chair" like a big boy.

I almost forgot until now (as K yells in my ear..), does he have a little temper when he doesn't like something! He has started to throw himself backwards..bang his arm against his side..and "yell".

I am 18 Weeks Old!!

Yesterday Kaleb had his 4 month Well Baby check up. He gained exactly 4 lbs, so he weight is now 19 lbs. 11 ozs. (he is almost too big for the baby scale!); and he is 25" long. Dr. C gave us the go ahead to start him on baby food because he is so big (baby food actually has less calories than breast milk)- so I figure in the next few weeks I will introduce cereal. He had 3 shots, only crying for a bit (he was fussy at night for a bit and a little too today). Next. appt. is in June.

He sleeps so good at night, each week the stretches seem to be longer (last night he slept from 9 pm until 5:30 am!).

He grabs for all of his toys and most go into his mouth. He puts his hands together like he is praying, and them too go into his mouth! he loves to be sitting up and looking around. We bought him a "Bebe Pod" seat...he sat comfortably in it, but is was tight on his legs- so we took it back.

He loves to look at everyone (he is staring at me as I type), smile, and laugh. He spits all the time too! He crinkles his nose up and even makes and Elvis like face.

Last night I had him on his belly on the couch and he scooted back about a foot and turned himself about 1/4 of the way!! He even positioned himself like he wanted to go forward to grab his toys. BIG BOY!

I am 17 Weeks Old!!

I took these pictures (along with others on our family page) this past Sunday morning while we were lounging in bed. I love black and white...my favorite pictures are the close up of his face and the one of him on his belly.

Things have been good! Kaleb loves to see what is going on. It is getting difficult for me to nurse him while I am on the computer..he always has to turn and look at the screen. He loves to watch people, especially when they act silly and say "BOO!" in his face.

I am surprised it has taken this long, but he is getting used to the camera in his face..he is starting to smile when I am ready to shoot!

Kaleb's sleep patterns are about the same, but the past week he has been waking to nurse about every 2 hours after the long 4 hour stretch.

This weekend he grabbed for one of his toys! He loves to hold on to just about anything that he can get into his chubby fingers and put it into his mouth. Which brings us to...the strong possibility that he is cutting a tooth. His bottom gum is so bumpy and there is a spot where it looks like it could be a tooth popping through, but it is hard to tell with those little calcium deposits (I think that is what they are called). He has been fussy on/off the past couple of days.

At some point this week I will post his "official" 17 week pics I took tonight.

He babbles quite a bit...the whole type I was typing this he was making sounds like "a boo phwert". It's cute.

Friday he will be months old!!

I am 16 Weeks Old!!

Here is the picture I was supposed to add last week....give you an idea of what it's been like around here?!

Pictures from this week, the picture in the middle is from today. Todd's buddy from work bought Kaleb a cute lion hat/mitten set from Old Navy (pic on left). He tried so hard to wiggle it off...guess he will be like Jake and not care for hats until he is older).

Things are about the same. Kaleb did sleep 8 hours the other night! He loves to look in your eyes and hold a conversation with you..it's cute. Last night he was laughing so hard because I was going "BOO!" and popping up from behind the chair. He has stopped peeing on me at bath time and has moved on to pooping through his outfit on almost a daily basis (almost always with my Mom). He was in his swing the other day and started fussing, so I go over, he lifts his head to look at me and gave me the biggest smile *melt*.

I am 15 Weeks Old!! {Wednesday}

Kaleb has a new best friend..his hands. They are in his mouth a lot, and he is not always hungry. He chews on his fists and like to suck his pointer finger. He is holding onto toys and bringing them to his mouth. Will he cut teeth before Jakob did (he was 6 months old)? He has started to out grow some of his 3-6 month clothes length wise. He is sleeping the same, and eating the same as well. He has been laughing a lot too! He was sitting on my lap Sunday with just a diaper on (the less clothes he has on the better!) watching Todd fold laundry and just started laughing hysterically (for quite a bit even)! It was the cutest thing.

Here is a video of him from today. All of the noises like grunts and sounds like a stuffy nose are from him...they are Kaleb noises.

I am 14 weeks old!!

Kaleb is very ticklish, especially around his chest bone! I love to hear him laugh. He loves to be entertained by big brother, especially when he sings and dances for him. He has started to suck his pointer finger! Not too much new as far as eating/sleeping habits- still eating and sleeping well! He has peed on me the last two times he has had a bath!! The signs we have hanging on the jelly cabinet seem to catch his eye...maybe he will love road signs like Jake?

He enjoyed some time outside in the fresh air today...I will probably post a picture on our page later.

I am 13 weeks old!!

Kaleb has been pulling himself forward into sitting position and pulling himself up off of you while he lays on his side while on you. When he doesn't want his bottle or binky, he will put his hand by his mouth and pull them away. He has been focusing on the TV, so we put on Sesame Street for him; he watches us while we move about and he loves watching Jakob. During bath time, he loves when you sprinkle water on his belly. He gets startled easily- I bumped his chair the other day while he was watching Daddy play a video game...arms come flying out and he screamed for like 10 minutes!! He laughs (it is so cute!) when I brush my hair/pony tail around his face. He still continues to sleep good (now if we can get Jake to sleep past 5:30 a.m.!!)! If you notice in the top picture, he is holding his burp cloth..it's his new friend.

I am 12 weeks old!!

Kaleb loves to have his feet kissed! He is laughing more and more and has lots of smiles to brighten our days. He loves to "talk" to his toys and doesn't hold back his opinion when we raise our voices! He loves to be sitting up so he can see what is going on in our crazy house! He has been sleeping pretty good aside from a few days where he was getting up every 2 hours to nurse, but we average 4-7 (!) hours straight at night. He has been going to bed before 10 p.m. which is good for me. He is still eating the same, but I have cut back on the amount of formula I give him while I am home (I limit him to one 4 oz. bottle before bed and nurse the rest of the time). He seems to enjoy the bed time stories we read to Jake.

I am 11 Wks Old!!

Happy Baby, Happy Baby! Big K is such a joy...he smiles, coos, and he even holds your finger and shirt. He laughed for a bit last Thursday! He likes when Jake makes noises at him; when you play with his baby blub (especially around his neck); and blow zerberts his belly. He started to pull his upper body forward while in a somewhat sitting position.

I am 10 Weeks Old!!!

I know I say it every week, but Kaleb is getting big! Time to pack away ALL of his 0-3 month clothes! Nothing too new to report other than he smiles and coos a lot more than last week (it almost sounds like he says "awoo"). He did laugh a little bit for the first time last night! After our visit to the doctor on Monday, he has backed off the quantity he has been eating. He did get his first boo-boo today- Daddy accidentally bumped into the dresser while holding him (if you saw how Todd holds him and the height of his dresser, you would understand) while I was at work this morning.

2 Month Well Baby

Kaleb had his 2 month well baby visit today. He was so good! He weighed in at 15 lbs. 11 oz. (weight is over 95 percentile) and is 24 1/4 inches long (95th percentile); his head circumference is 151/2 inches (25th percentile). Aside from the weight gain, he is perfect. Dr. C did say that if he were 4 months old, he would be on baby food (because he cannot go on a diet!).

He had 3 shots today..only crying for a few minute after. Next appt. is in April!

I am 9 Wks. Old!

Today Big K is 9 weeks old! Not too much new from last week, still doing the same things as last week only more often. He has been "swatting" at his toys and babbling to them. He does get mad and spit/cry (if he is in his seat sometimes)..it is funny. He has been using his fist to push away his bottle/binky if he doesn't want it.

His cold is still lingering and the cough is there with congestion/wheezing (with mucous now!), so I took the boys to the Dr. today (ours is in Ireland, so we had Dr. H). He checked him over and prescribed the Pedia-Pred (steroid) again..the wheezing is a symptom from the RSV he had back in Dec. He had been sleeping 3-5 hour stretches and went to being restless and up every 2 hours a few nights this week (last night was decent, went to bed at 11 pm and woke once to nurse and coughed once). He was weighed today *drum roll* 15 lbs. 10 oz.!!! BIG K!!!

He did pee on Todd last night and then again after I wrapped him in his towel after bath; he also had an Explosion" out of his diaper (first!).

He is doing good while I am at work. Drinking all of his bottles and napping!

He goes for his 2 month Well Baby visit on Monday...shots!!

I Remember Now

So there were a few things that Kaleb does that I did not add in his 8 week update:

• When being held upright, he tries to push himself up with his feet (strengthens his leg muscles for when he will play hockey!! haha kidding).
• When being held upright, he pushes himself away from you with his arms (he loves to be up on your shoulder to see everything!).
• When place on his belly, he tries to pick his head up and use his arms to push himself up.
• He has discovered his hands/fists and shakes them all about and also kicks his legs- he even sucked his thumb for a bit on Friday. He rubs his eyes when he is tired even.

Since I posted last, he has been smiling and "talking" a lot. He loves lights and the ceiling fan- the other morning he was making noises at one of Jakob's pillow shams (has bugs on it) and also found friends while sitting in his Eddie Bauer seat.

Kaleb's cough/chest congestion has gotten worse since the last post too- but it is not a constant thing, weird. The cough isn't like it was when he had the RSV- it is like a normal cold cough and not the type where he is coughing so much he can't catch his breath. Last night he was up quite a bit for him- not fussy, just restless and coughing- we had the humidifier on and I had the "sucker" close by. I did give him some Tylenol at his 5 am feeding. Just gave him 1/2 dose of of medicine (our nurse actually called Thursday to say my PAP was ok and asked about the baby- she recommended I give him a decongestant) and he is sleeping (clear and no cough). He has been in a good mood and eating!

(It's no wonder Kaleb can sleep a good nap around here with Jake talking loud and buzzing all around....he just doesn't get *Please be quiet...baby is sleeping*.)

We seem to be on a better schedule than we were last week. Kaleb now eats about every 3 hours (with nursing and a bottle following) and there seems to be a pattern on the times that he eats/sleeps- need to time the morning feeding just right tomorrow because I will start pumping at work *cringe* (hope to pump 2-3 times) and will want to be able to feed him when I get home.

Would like to get a nap in was awake with Kaleb from 4 am to 6:15 am then we went for a nap- I should have no problem getting up tomorrow, but may get into an old habit of not sleeping on Sunday night because I know where I am going on Monday...and I won't be with my "babies" all day.

I am 8 Wks. Old!!!

Kaleb is getting SO BIG!! He has outgrown diapers and is working his way into 3-6 month clothes!

His facial features have changes a lot- we think he looks more like Todd and Jake looks more like me.

He is smiling and cooing a lot, mostly when he is laying on my chair after a diaper change, playing with his cheeks and chin, or making silly noises at him; today he flashed me a grin with no coaxing.

He still doesn't really cry unless he is hungry or has a mess in his pants. He did voice his 2 cents to Jake by grunting as I was nursing him and raising my voice to Jakob.

His sleeping times vary, but he is asleep by midnight. Nap times and lengths vary. Rise and shine for the day is no later than 10 a.m. Last night...he slept FOR 5 HOURS STRAIGHT!

The other night I was changing his diaper and he was tooting away (quite loud I might add!). My butt happened to be positioned close to Todd's head and as I laughed, Todd got an attitude and says "Will you quit farting next to my head!!". It was so funny!

I know there is a bit more, but I just can't think of it right at the moment. Only a few more days before I head back to work *wince*. BTW- Didn't take any pictures this past week as I did not have the battery charged in the camera. More posted in the photo journal.

Filing out his 0-3 month jammies!


This is the new breast pump. It is the Playtex Embrace system (also goes with his bottles)- haven't tried it out yet. I like that the bag is more discreet looking than my other one. Here's hoping that the "suction" is better...hahaha.

Kaleb is now in Size 2 diapers!

New carrier from Baby Bjorn- I love black, but thought this pattern was much more unique (Todd isn't too fond of it,but he will come around).

Kaleb's new binky by Soothie. He seems to like this one best of the 4 he has tried. The nipple is shaped most like his bottle and mother.



Seeing as he liked the new paci, thought he might like their bottle. Picked up one at Wallyworld last night and tried it out...not a hit..yet.

Because Kaleb seems to still be hungry after nursing, he has 1-3 ozs. of formula after most meals during the week and at bedtime after nursing on the weekend. Otherwise, we are nursing just about every hour or hour and a half! I used this formula this time around because they were the only company that sent me coupons (Jake had Enfamil).

Wallyworld now carries these wash clothes (I was using the Huggies brand along with this soap at bath). They are also good for sponge baths!

I am 7 Weeks Old!

After a few nights and days of Kaleb nursing every 1-2 hours, I decided to "supplement" with some formula last night. He drank 2 ozs. from a bottle with no problem- no gas or spitting up. He slept 3 hours, but I am convinced he would've slept longer had "big brudder" not come into the room at 3:30 a.m. and woke the both of us up. Anyway...

Kaleb is more in tune with what is going on around him- looking all around, making more baby noises, little smiles here and there (he likes his chin and chubby cheeks played with). He still doesn't really cry unless he is hungry or has a mess in his pants. When he is mad, he will do this low cry and spit out of his lips.

Today I tried him out in the swing and he seemed to enjoy it.....so much he fell asleep!

Bring out the Pump!

Ugghhh. It is that time already. Two weeks from today. I go back to work. No fun!

So, today is the day that I needed to dust off the ole breast pump and try it out. To my dismay, it worked. I ended up expressing 2 ozs.- and Jake only interrupted twice. He was fascinated by the "cool machine". I think I want a new "machine"...

Today was also the day I gave Kaleb a bottle (other than drinking 1 tsp. of meds a few times he hasn't had one). He drank the 2 ozs. I pumped like there was no tomorrow and then finished nursing. I don't think there will be issues with him transitioning to a bottle while I am at work. We are using the same type of bottle as we dd with Jakob- they changed the shape of the nipple!

Full Belly

(We had a very difficult time with Jakob- we tried different nipples, bottles, eye droppers, sippy cups..even a bottle made to look and feel like a breast! Finally he took to the Platex Nurser, then the Playtex Ventaire; he was also drinking from a sippy cup at 4 months.).

Kaleb was a bit stuffy last night, so we sat next to the humidifier and cleared up some. Was stuffy again this morning with some coughing, so he sat in his chair next to Mr. Penguin. At least he is spitting up some of the "junk". It is hard to tell if it is cold related or from the "dry heat" in this darn place.
